When Cara was born in July of 2009, I was not ready to become a mommy.
On paper, everything seemed perfect. I was (and still am) happily married, settled in a home, stable in my career as a high school English teacher. I was 26 years old, which is old enough to have sown my wild oats but young enough to chase a gaggle of children. I read tons of books on childbirth and baby sleep and parenting. It was the right time, the perfect time.
But truly, nothing can prepare you for the dramatic life change that accompanies those first sweet baby cries.
Almost two years later, I am still trying to figure it all out. Motherhood has brought more joy into my life than I could have imagined, but it has also brought more challenges and frustrations than anything else I have done. I succeed and fail, but no matter what, the love, joy, and sense of accomplishment are constant.
In between learning how to be a mommy, teaching, and lots of other things, I write this blog. I write about things I like, mainly about Cara and my awesome hubby. But I also like sewing, cooking, and a slew of other things.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll be back many times to help me answer the question I ask when I can’t figure this out: Where is my instruction manual?
